Space Saver spare wheel for 2018 Golf - Can it be gotten cheaper?

    Hi all,

    We have a 2018 Golf (1.0 TSi) which came with a full size spare wheel (205/55 R16). When the full size spare is in place the boot floor only fits in the higher position. We've had a new arrival in the house and the extra boot space would be handy. VW have quoted me around €300 for a new space saver. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might find a compatible space saver wheel at a more reasonable price. The two tyre places near me that I tried said that it'd be cheaper ordering through VW.

    Don't bother as you will shortly be buying a bigger car after your 1st trip away with the baby.

    Thanks all. The new baby means my response time to these things is poor enough.

    One other potentially daft question. Obviously the new wheel will be 16", but do I need to look for anything particular in terms of size/code?

    Yes. Pitch circle diameter, number of holes and centre bore size.
