Phoenix park park run?

    Anyone know if there is a weekly park run in phoenix park?
    Cant find event info online, does anyone have this or can send info or links pls?

    Fairly sure there is no parkrun in Phoenix Park. Stand to be corrected but nearest parkrun to it could be Tolka Valley.

    No in Phoenix park. Loads nearby. Waterstown in palmerstown, hartstown, porterstown to name but a few.

    A Phoenix Park Parkrun would be fantastic. There would be so many possibilities for trails, hills, tarmac flats, one lap course etc. But sadly we don't have one.

    I for one am glad there still a public park in Dublin where you can go for a Saturday morn run and not have randomers lapping you along with words of encouragement :-)

    There's a race of some description in the Phoenix Park seemingly every other week for large chunks of the year, no way do they have capacity for a parkrun as well. I'm glad they're dotted around some of the less well known parks.

    Honestly think it'd be a nightmare. Park would (potentially) be unusable for other users for ~2 hours every week.

    I think the likes of Phoenix Park is unsuitable as well. It would potentially be very popular, which is good, but a better reason for location of a new parkrun event is near to people who will make use of and benefit from it. Sticking one in a location that is good for tourists isn't a good reason for locating a parkrun there. Not that Phoenix Park is of the same level as Crissy Fields (Golden Gate Bridge) for tourist attraction, or New York Central Park (just because parkrun tourists want one there) but I'm not sure who it would actually be serving other than existing parkrunners.

    Not sure who the original London Bushy Park event serves now even as it is effectively a tourist attraction in itself. Can't see it being an easy event for nervous newcomers to parkrun to head along to, other than being able to lose themselves in a crowd. Much better to have many small events that serve their local community and are run by the local community than a few massive ones that serve no one other than existing parkrunners.

    It’s a moot point. Will never happen because the regular access necessary to build and maintain a parkrun can never be guaranteed because the Park is already committed to other events. OPW will never sanction. Pity for locals (because there are plenty), but lots of nearby alternatives to support anyway. Better to keep the P Park for the big stuff.

    I'd have thought it would fit in grand.

    I'm lucky is so far as the back gate of my job leads right out into the park so I run it a lot, but either way its not like we're stuck for Parkrun's either (in Dublin) so I'd rather see the effort put into other parks around the country.

    Dublin Runners have regular runs in Phoenix pk..theres a few varieties on Saturdays.. look them up..

    The point I'm making is the sheer volume it would attract would potentially make the park unusable for other users, every week. Marlay had 750 last weekend, I think St. Annes had about 650.
    I dunno about St Annes but Marlay is virtually unusable for other users along the run route while it is taking place.
