Hi folks father in law has just gotten sky installed and had to manually tune in the ITVs, they don’t appear in his channel listings or epg, is there any fix to this?

cancel sky and get him a tiviar plus, have a look at that big thread, needs a bit of know how and patience but very good value.

Ha I’ve a sab triple tuner running enigma 2 donkeys years now which I love and it’s a thousand times better than sky but he’s an old man and I’m not having him ringing me every time he needs a channel retuned!

Autobouquetmaker updates the Freesat and Saorview channels so you never need to do this

I built a custom build for the Tiviar Alphaplus, for exactly this situation. The only setup required, for general tv viewing, is to set the correct Saorview region in Autobouquetmaker.

I finally cracked automatic channel updates, and retuning, using Autobouquetmaker, with CustomMix files. This allows me to have a simple channel list, with all the main channels on a simple EPG, see here. The only channel maintenance required should be to update service providers, a menu option in ABM, when the Saorview frequencies change.

I hope to post a new Image, with this feature active, in the next day or two. (Wifey never even noticed the very minor Bouquet changes required.) The ITV Channels are included in the Main Bouquet.

He’s only just signed up to sky so he’ll just have to accept it! Theve installed the dish and wiring now so I might suggest a fta box in 12 months as it would be pretty straight forward swap of boxes

Is there not a 14 day cooling off period with Sky?

If it's Sky Q then the LNB won't work with FTA or Freesat (unless the new Freesat boxes due later this year are wideband LNB compatible but that's not known yet).

He’s past the cooling off period unfortunately but I don’t think it’s sky q, think he just got the most basic package but I’m sure the lnb could be swapped over easily to a normal one eventually?

He has seen my FTA box in action for years and still went out and subscribed to sky after being told not to, there’s just no talking to some people!

AFAIK Sky Q is the standard installation now, the box and LNB are Sky Q equipment regardless of which channels you pick.

In any case the LNB can be swapped afterwards but if it was known beforehand you could have asked for a hybrid LNB that would work for Sky Q and FTA.
