I was just changing the bulb on the passenger side and when I went to fasten the lower metal clip back on to the cover I mustn’t of had it situated properly. The plastic that holds the metal clip in the sides of the housing broke off.

So that’s that stuffed then? Can I drive the car with out that cover on the rear of the light? I presume if it rains water will get in? Stuff the electrics?

How does this even get fixed? The hole housing will have to be changed?

as JJJJNR said, just replace it asap and don't let it slide. Car manufacturers are getting away with murder making it so difficult to change bulbs

This was a head light bulb? As far as I can remember changing the actual head lamp is a bumper off job. The top and bottom clips are a nightmare!!

Sounds like you'll need a replacement headlight if that's the housing you're talking about, although the cover may stay on with just one of the clips. Pretty crap if the plastic is that weak. Is this a common problem? You may have to put this down to user error.

The plastics in this car are stupidly brittle. Looking at it it seems to be part of a larger part of plastic, that may be part of the head light or might be part of some inner trim.

Anyway. Fixed it by drilling a hole in the bottom of the cover and the lip of the surround and used a cable tie.

is there a chance this could affect the beam alignment? No harm in getting that looked at also.
