Importing from the UK

I'm looking for a bit of advice here. In considering buying a car in the next few days in the UK. Dealer is reputable (not manufacturer), very good reviews and has won awards for customer service after sales care etc.

Car appears immaculate from the photos and description. It has a high spec and not something I could get here for the same money. The car is a 2016 and registered in May of that year. There is 13,000 on the clock. Is there any way I can check that out??? It hasn't been mot'd because it's not 3 years old yet. Not serviced yet. I have imported from the UK before but much older cars where it has been easy to cross reference mileage against service records and MOT records.

Second question .. . . A friend of mine has recommended currency fair for the conversion into sterling. However a bank transfer is required. Would it be foolish of me to pay for the car prior to going over as the money will take a day or two to clear. Obviously I'd be seeking a written agreement confirming that I can have my money back if the car is not as described.

    Thanks in advance.
