Neighbours gave me a Dell 5559 which was brand new maybe 2 years ago to have a look as it never worked from delivery from Dell, would not power on.. Dell sent out a replacement but courier did not want to take this one back. And Dell didn’t seem too bothered either..

Anyways, I checked the charger, and it’s all good. Seems to be power going to the motherboard and from there on there is no activity.

    It’s an Intel Core i5 (6th Gen) 6200U / 2.3 GHz.

Any ideas..? Or is it for parts at this stage..?

Reseat the RAM (if it's not soldered on), ditto the battery or if you can remove it, try it with just the charger connected.

Failing that it's probably something on the board alright.

That model has a cabled DC jack. A dud board is unlikely to pass automated QC so my money is on a poor (human) assembly job that came apart in transit. Pop the chassis and ensure that cable is fully seated.
