Phone with FM radio?

I’m looking for an Android phone which either has FM or else one on which it can easily be enabled.

The reason for this is because I don’t want to use up all my data on radio apps.

Is there anything currently available in the likes of carphone warehouse capable of doing this?

It's either a feature that's installed in the factory or not, you cannot 'enable' it after the event. Unless you're buying a low end (cheap) model, it should be a standard feature. FM radio only works when wearing headphones as the headphone lead acts as the antenna.

sometimes the phone has the radio but it's not enabled in the software.

e.g. the a2 lite only had the fm radio enabled with the android pie update. before that your couldn't use it without rooting the phone and doing some other technical messing.

I'm on my 6th Android phone at the moment, I buy mid-priced models (Samsung/HTC/Motorola) and every phone I've had has had FM radio.

The OP's question suggests that you have to go looking for a phone with FM radio, my point is that most Android phones have the feature.

Any Android I have owned has had FM radio as standard.

My Xiaomi Mi A1 didn't until recently, it has been added with the latest Android 9 update.

We can quote specific phone models which do not have FM radio until the cows come home. It does not disprove the point I made which is that most models I have come across did have the feature.

It's well down the list of 'must have' features for me but every one of the six Android phones I have owned has had it.

except that's not the point you made.

Some recent HTC flagship phones removed the FM radio.

Any phone without a headphone jack is very unlikely to have an fm radio as the earphone wire/cord is used as the fm antenna.

GSMArena has a filter for this.
    Filter as necessary.

Is there a conflict or contradiction between the two statements of mine that you quoted?
