Galaxy S8 or A8 in 2018?

    Hello everyone,,,
Looking to switch back to Android after a couple years with the iPhone (coming from the 6s). I'm looking at the S8 and A8 as options, but I have a couple questions and some pros and cons for each. Budget would be either a used S8 or new A8.

I feel like the overall build and feel in the hand is probably better with the S8, but the fingerprint scanner is in a much better spot on the A8. I also don't much like the curved screen and would prefer a flat one (if only the S8 had a flat screen version!). The processor doesn't really matter to me with my usage; I don't game.

How is the speaker on the A8 compared to the S8? It's in an odd location.

What will software support for the A8 look like? Last Samsung I owned was a Note 3 and software support was not good.

    Battery life between the two?

The S8 is nearly two years old, meaning it'll only get one more OS update and one more year of support.

If that doesn't bother you, it's a much better phone than the A8 for sure. I've had mine around 18 months now and it still performs well, and has a better camera and screen than most new phones do. The battery is fine but don't expect anything amazing.

If you're not set on Samsung though there are plenty of great newer phones for similar prices to the A8. the Mi A2, Pocophone, moto g6 etc.

there is of course the option of putting your own choice of android version on the s8 e.g. can put the latest version - pie on it as there are stable options out there.

    but yes S8 > A8.

you can buy it for about 390 new on amazon spain or germany
