Cancel contract

    Hi,

I am looking to cancel my contract with Eir, currently have broadband/phone but the service has been down since New Years day, logged a fault but nothing has happened.

I contacted a chat rep who told me my contract is finished (currently rolling) so it won't cost me anything to cancel. They said I need to speak to an agent to cancel though.

I have tried 3 times this morning (1901 number), waited over 10mins each time to talk to an agent and each time it has hung up when I'm put through.

Can I cancel my contract via post? If so what do I need to put in the letter?

Or can you possibly cancel it yourselves if I PM you my account details?

    Thanks

    Hi Ahren,

    OK thanks for that.

I've been on hold on that number for the last 30mins so think I'll just post it in, today has been an absolute disaster trying to get to talk to any agents in Eir.

What happens my phone number if I cancel, I'm switching to Virgin so will they just port it across when they do the installation (tomorrow)? If not can you provide me with the details to give them?

    Cheers

If you're porting to another network, you're better off having the new provider handle everything.
If that is an option for you, it's usually the one that works fastest.

Nota bene: you might end up losing some money, for the last month with your current provider. You get transferred to the new network and never get reimbursed for the period you paid in advance, but it's still the quickest option.

    Hi,
I'm looking to cancel my contract too,
I've made multiple calls to EIR and every time, I end up on hold with the call eventually disconnecting
(45 minutes on hold today for example)
    Its infuriating.

I actually managed to get through to someone today who subsequently transferred me through to another dud number.

    Please can you help

Ok perfect, thanks for the reply JoyPad.

I'll take the hit money-wise just to get it sorted out, haven't had internet/phone for 7 days now with Eir so will be just happy for Virgin to port it across tomorrow.

Ahern: Just in terms of cancelling, what do you need me to put in the letter to cancel the contract? Is the following enough along with the request to cancel? ...
    • Your name and address as they appear on your eir bill,
    • Your UAN number (this can be found on your eir Bill),

...just as an aside: if eir arent answering the phones how do we know they are processing letters?
... how long after sending a letter would we get confirmation its received and being processed?

Send you letter by registered post.  You will have a record of it being received.

    Hi LionalHutz32.

Sorry for the delay in response.

    When sending your letter please include the following four pieces of information;

    • Your UAN number (this can be found on your eir Bill),

    Thank you.
