    Hi,

Did a quick search for this topic and couldn't see anything relevant that wasn't years old....I expect the answer to be no but I'll ask anyway - want to order from a UK website (thread.com) that will only take credit cards with a UK address, is there any way around this?

    Thanks

I thought that it's illegal now (recent change) for a site not to accept business from within the EU?

possible way around it is to sign up free for a revolut card - download app is all you need to do to use virtual card, set address as your parcel wizard /motel address (where you'll also get the goods sent to)

upload some money to revolut (through your debit card) and away you go

worth a try. plus revolut saves you money on the exchange rate.

Will do - sent email to Thread.com and they've obviously never heard of this regulation (or are getting their Brexit preparations in ahead of schedule ) - they said they planned to offer the service to non-UK residents but had no timescale for when. I'll try the above and let you know, cheers for the steer!

    https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/selling-in-eu/selling-goods-services/provide-services-abroad/index_en.htm

There is no difference between customers anywhere in the EU
While you are free to define your general terms and conditions of sale, all your EU-based customers must have the same access to services (provided at your premises or electronically supplied services) as your local customers. If you offer a special price, promotion or sales conditions, these should be made available to all your customers irrespective of which EU country they are located in, their nationality, place of residence or business location.

The rules apply to online and offline transactions as long as the sales are to the end user (an individual or business that doesn't have the intention to re-sell, transform, process, rent or subcontract their purchases). The rules do not apply to audio-visual services. For other copyright-protected on-line content, limitations due to territorial copyright limitations may still apply.

maybe it only applies to services tho

read somewhere else that with Revolut that you may need for revolut put in the parcel motel address fullly but at the end put in ireland instead of northern ireland

but with the buying obv put northern ireland

I contacted Revolut about getting the options for getting a UK credit card, I explained I wanted to use it for Amazon Prime music that requires a UK Credit card with UK address, I said to them I could open a UK account as I have a UK mobile number (I got a cheap SIM card from ebay) and UK address with Parcel Motel. They said that would be ok to setup a new account in the UK with that UK PM address and the UK number, after the account was registered they looked for a copy of passport for identity verification I contacted them again on chat with the same info as above, they said it would be ok to verify the account with my passport even if the address didn't match with my account address.
