Any advice much appreciated folks...turbo gone in my 2008 Mazda 6 2litre diesel
Is it worth repairing (getting quotes between 1500-2500)
(Doesn't seem worth it to put that amount into 11 year old car)

    Other options:
Trade in....would any dealer take it?

    Sell privately...is it worth anything?

Like i said...any advice much appreciated!

Cut your losses and scrap it

As a private sale an 11 year old Mazda diesel with a fubared turbo is worth very little. Equally it's worth nothing to a dealer and reality is that they will only be taking off your hands.

If it has a valid NCT then it might be worth the value of a scrappage discount off a brand new car. There might be other criteria to qualify for the scrappage deal though.

Advertise it on Donedeal cars (damaged repairable section) and see if their is any interest.

Just curious, what mileage is on the car and did it serve you well?

90,000 miles....have had a few issues with it....to be honest i took a punt when buying it..which hasn't worked out! lovely car though just wasn't maintained properly by previous owner(s)

They were never a good car, even when immaculately maintained unfortunately

If she's taxed and tested she's probably worth throwing a secondhand turbo into.

I just saw one there on ebay for about 160 euro delivered, you surely know some mechanic capable of fitting it for a reasonable price?

    It's worth asking around anyway.

yeah....considered that option but as previous poster says that 2.0 litre diesel engine is notoriously troublesome and just not sure if i want to throw more money at it tbh

Sounds like you got your mind made up, no one is going to buy it as is.
