When I go into the google app I see 'Discover' the news feed. Most of the topics are good and relevant but I can't stop sports headlines. Anyone know a way to do this? I've tried the obvious ways, like selecting interests in settings, but I'm still getting sports headlines.

Not sure you can but you can press on the 3 dots on the top right of a story and say 'not interested in' the individual topic. Eventually you'll get to the stage where you'll have the sport ones gone. I had to do the same to get it to stop showing me politics stuff.

Step 2: Choose the types of cards you want to see
Add or delete topics you follow from the Google app
    1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app Google .
    2. Tap Menu Menu and then Customize.
    3. Choose topics to add or delete:
    • Add: At the top, tap Follow Topics.
    • Delete: Next to the topic, tap Remove Remove. If you don't see this option, you haven't followed any topics yet.

It gets populated by things you searched or visited in chrome extra.

Thanks. I've been doing that for a year now, latest one I had to click was 'Not interested in Marko Arnautovic'

I wonder why there's not a 'not interested in sport' option...

Also did some googling about Paul McCartney a while ago and now I'm getting stupid daily stories that really arent interesting, but I don't want to select 'Not interested in Paul McCartney', you know...in case he dies or something..

Also, is there a way to get general big news headlines? Like the recent earthquakes/tsunamis...? This seems to be a glaring omission in the news feed app. I am missing major headlines and instead getting "Paul McCartney admits that he prefers Heinz to Chef ketchup" type stuff

I can see the topic sport, there's no remove option.

I've de-selected the sports updates button, doesn't work.
