Correct oil for 2015 Avensis dsl?

    A friend has a 2015 Avensis diesel (1998ccm - 126hp) and he asked me to change the oil.
    I use Lubex 5W30 fully synthetic in a lot of cars (buy 20L drum)- but have not been able to make sure that it's suitable for the Avensis ; and don't want to take any chances.
    Hoping that someone on the forum has experience with these cars and could advise whether the Lubex is suitable - or should I go to Toyota for example.

    5W 30 is best. At 126 bhp i assume its the 1AD engine so needs to be ACEA C2 for cars with dpf API SL or SM but SN will be fine too just has more detergents i think. ILSAC is also quoted for it but iv never gone by that spec.

    Thanks for reply - choosing the correct oil has become extremely complicated for the DIYer ;
    A lot of the 'info' I picked up mentions C2 as you did for the 1AD engine but the oil I have has C3 on it only - no mention of C2 ;
    So I think I will wait and get an oil that has C2 spec - just to be on the safe side.

    C3 is a lower ash oil than C2 so it’s fine to use instead of C2.

    No it isnt, C2 and C3 have exactly the same SAPS levels. Both medium SAPS oil. C1 and C4 are low SAPS oils. C1 and C2 are lower viscosity than C3 and C4. Lower viscosity oil is usually better for cold starts and fuel economy.

    Did some more 'research' on the oil I have Lubex LA 5W30 and it's stated to be
    a) low SAPS and
    b) ACEA C2 C3.
