Would it not depend on which tractor was in better nick ,almost impossible to get either of them with only 8k hours .the jd 6810 with a powerquad box would be considered the better of the 2 but like i said check the hours

That's a power quad. Power quad plus had the Power quad buttons on the range lever.

6810 not bad money for a tractor of its size

what makes the 6810 so much preferred

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭Nekarsulm

Easier to work on if you need to go into a gearbox etc, most parts of the hydraulic system are on the outside of the tractor.
Chassis frame so you don't need to split it.
Cab tilts over to one side to get at drive train, if required.
    Pretty reliable gearbox.
Only common problems are a head gasket every 5 or 6000 hours and the cross shaft that raises the rear arms wears.

Ford 8340 is a fine thing too, and the Powerstar engines are bullet proof, but it's a more aged design now.

JD better than Ford and that JD series were a Picasso

    Ps

Thought the 10 series started in 1999?

the old farmer selling them would rather drive the NH Tractor, prefers it over the JD

Ah but he's not a machinery man :D

The 8340 would be faster on the road if thats of any addition to ya.

But as said above at the money the 6810 would be hard look past. Also it's a tractor that'd in general command higher resale value. So from an economic perspective its probably a better buy as well.
