Hi looking for advice....recently unboxed my old 1984 Tokai 'Goldstar sound' strat, plugged it into amp and ......nothing.... (few buzzes and clicks)
Not really a massive surprise as its been in its case in my parents attic for at the very least 22 years!!
Its in perfect condition otherwise and im
Just wondering what my best plan of action should be ?
Are pick ups liable to need replaced ? Cleaned?
Might it need rewired , should i put it in somewhere for a full repair /service?
If so any recommendations in Dublin?
Not a massive expert so any advice greatly appreciated...
    Thanks in advance.

So, step one is to make sure the cable and amp work. Plug one end into the amp, turn the amp on, and touch the tip of the other end of the cable. If that makes noise, then we know that's good.

Next step is to check that the wires on the output jack of the guitar. Undo the 2 screws holding the jack plate into the guitar, and gently lift the plate away from the guitar. Make sure that both wires are attached to the jack.

If that's ok, screw the plate back into the guitar. Now you'll need to remove the pickguard from the guitar. Remove the strings, and remove the screws around the outside of the pickguard. Gently lift the pickguard, and rotate it towards the bottom of the guitar so that you can see the underside of it. Again, check for detached wires.

If you find detached wires, and you're not confident with reattaching them (which is really simple if you have a soldering iron), or if you're not confident with taking the screws out, drop it into a decent guitar shop (Music Maker, X-Music). It shouldn't be an expensive thing to fix. More than likely, you will not need new pickups.

might just be corrosion in the socket. scuff the contacts with sandpaper when you have it open.
