Ecocars

I'm looking to buy an Outlander PHEV in the very near future and I've found one I'm interested in from 'Ecocars' (Ireland). Curious if anyone has had any dealings with them and if they'd recommend them as a trusted seller?

The actual car has only got 2K miles left on the manufacturers warranty so I'm a little bit off put by that. However, Ecocars offer a 12 month 'comprehensive warranty' ?

I have no idea if Outlander PHEVs give trouble, have known costly mechanical failures or are reliable at all and I'd appreciate any input anyone has on the topic please!

    The car is a 2016 GX4H.

    Thanks! :)

Ecocars UK I briefly dealt with but they didn't have the right car so I can't tell you a whole lot. Guy knew his stuff anyway.

Ecocars Ireland (Athlone) was where we bought our Leaf in the end and I would highly recommend Sean. He was helpful and I felt we got a good deal at the time. (151 Tekna Leaf bought in 2017). Car was in excellent condition and he supplied my home charge point too.

I recommend Sean at ecocars Athlone too.
He was very helpful throughout the process and also has good contacts with the Mitsu dealer in Birr who did my recall stuff.

Since I am still in warranty I don't know how he is when warranty runs out, but based on his efforts so far I feel pretty confident he will do anything in his power to help out.

I contacted him before and had a good long conversation about a car that he was looking to source for me. He never called me back and I bought elsewhere.

Seems a nice chap but "aint nobody got no time" for a business that doesnt call back when agreed!

You're paying for that car, it includes a €3k scrappage but even then you could import a similar car for way less, take this 2016 2.0 GX4h CVT 4x4 which looks in perfect condition for say, £18k including car checks which is about €20,250 at today's FX rate, €1,250 VRT, add say €350 for delivery to your door (cheaper if you get it yourself) and the final cost will be less than €22k and remember you can still sell your current car to reduce the cost further

Totally agree with everything you've said and it's an idea I've merely toyed with at this stage (importing myself).

Your probably going to fall around the place laughing at this question but how does one get a car delivered to their front door for that price? There's a few cars I saw on autotrader I'd be very interested in but it simply wouldn't pay me or be possible to take a day or two off to head to England to arse around looking at cars at the moment. But then there's the inherent risk of being delivered a lemon unless there's a trusted third party to check the car for me over there.

Also, 1250 VRT seems very low? On mobile at the moment I'll have a look at the VRT calculator this evening.

Thanks by the way, appreciate the reply :)

I put in a June 2016 GX4H with 60,000 miles for that quote, remember it's a plug in so lower VRT.
I've brought 3 cars in at max. €350 to my door over the years, just phone around any of the guys advertising on DoneDeal, price will depend on pickup and dropoff location
