Can't request a p21

Why won't it allow me to request a p21 for 2018. On My Account it's saying that it's due to be being registered for income tax in 2018. That makes no sense.

    Thanks

You are registered for Income Tax Self Assessment on Revenue records. Have you been self employed or a landlord or even doing contract work?

Anyway being Incone Tax registered means you cant get a p21 you must file and income tax return Form 11

I registered as a sole trader from September.

Which means you are registered for income tax for 2018 and won't be able to get a p21 balancing statement anymore. When you file your 2018 income tax return, you'll get the income tax equivalent as the return will include all sources of income both PAYE and non PAYE.

Ah ok, thanks. I'd say I've a lot of tax to claim back as I was on emergency tax a lot last year. As far as I know I put in my tax details for the business in April? So ya think that I will get any tax I'm owed then?

If youve overpaid tax based on your income from all sources then it will be refunded

The tax year is January to December. You have until the 31st of October the following year to file your Income tax return. The ROS form 11 should be available already for you to file. So you can file a return anytime from the 1st of January until the 31st of October. Have you spoken with your accountant about it?

On a similar vein, how do I claim medical and education expenses now? I'm registered for income tax for the first time too

File a Form MED 1 for medical expenses but you must have made an annual return as well, you can do both online, the same if you have qualifying education expenses

Med 1 form not required if filing a form 11 Ros return. It's only duplication.

A tax return is for all sources of taxable income and reliefs claimed.

    Thank you I stand corrected.
