I had the plumber in a few days before Christmas due to a leak from the cylinder in hot press and he told me the immersion needed to be replaced. he did this and I then noticed a leak coming from a pipe down near the ground on the hot press it it connecting from the cylinder to a myson (which I believes controls the thermostat upstairs). I use to be able to have my heat on downstairs and off upstairs but since he replaced the immersion when the thermostat upstairs is at 0degrees the heat is still coming on and then a few nights ago it decided to not come on at all. I have tried to contact him but what with it been the Christmas hols he was away.

Without actual pics it would be difficult to say what is leaking. Could be an actuated valve. This could be faulty as you now have no heat upstairs. You'll need a plumber to sort out unless you can do some basic checks. Is the myson thermostat a thermostat or actuated valve. Pics help but realistic you need someone competent to fix your issue.

I had the plumber call back - in my view he was in such a rush to get it done before going on Christmas break that he inadvertently did something to the myson. he came out on Monday and did something to it and said it was working now and that also I would need to replace the cylinder in the hotpress.

Why replace the cylinder, is it leaking? He should have explained what he did to resolve the issue?

yes it is leaking - I came home last November to a lot of water on hot press floor, at the time the plumber told me it was the pump (shower) and he replaced it and then a few days later there was still a very small leak and this time he told me that it was coming from the immersion (at the top of the cylinder) and he came just a few days before Christmas and replaced it and then I noticed there was still a leak and this time it had moved to the bottom of the cylinder (not a lot of water dripping so I put towels down as he was away for Christmas) and he came back after Christmas and told me that the entire cylinder should be replaced.

    Get a new plumber.
