A new tax on my pay slip?

    Hi guys,

    We got our pay slip this month and it said advance..in the tax section and I paid over 2 grand and no idea where it came from? Any idea what advance stands for in tax?trying to get educated before I go to finance tomoro 😂

    Its not a tax. It is a deduction.
    Due to christmas being a tuesday and then the next day a bank holiday aswell your employer had to pay your wages earlier than usual. So they paid an estimated amount into your account, an advance on your salary, and then when your accurate payslip was produced they put that amount in the deductions as an advance since you already received it.

    Ah cool so it’s my salary payment and not wat is deducted in tax?

    Thats my guess. Same thing happened our company our last payslip. If they didnt pay us an advance then we wouldve gotten our money after christmas, later than our normal pay date and everyone would have been annoyed.

    Check your bank account if the exact amount listed as an advance on your payslip is what was paid in before you got your payslip. And then if they over or under paid you then you will either get an additional payment or be deducted a bit from the next payslip.
