    Hi guys

Purchased an AS1164 EDC 95mm Nickle plated cylinder to replace front door lock. Wanted to know if it was anti snap as there isn’t anything on the packaging to indicate this?

    No it isn't.

    Your cylinder looks like this:
    AS1163.jpg

But this is what an anti-snap one looks like:

See the way There's a line through the cylinder towards the left? That's the anti-snap bit, it breaks off there and buggers the cylinder in a locked position instead of breaking in the middle and letting the door be opened. It's strengthened at the bottom weak point too.

rang the guy we bought it from and he is adamant that it is anti snap. I have a feeling that he is not telling the truth also charged is 36e for the pleasure of buying it, thought that was a bit cheap for an anti snap one

    That's pretty bad form alright.
Did you check that the lock you have is the same as the one in my top picture? I could have found the wrong picture online...but if it doesn't have the features I mentioned at the bottom then it isn't anti-snap.

The lock I bought off him is identical to the top picture. Will see if he will give me a refund tomorrow. Thank you for all of your advice

It’s easy enough to take out and check.

Any recommendations from the screwfix website? I wasn’t aware how easily they could be broken and I’m not sure what lock is best.

What would you pay for an anti snap cylinder?

So someone can't break into your house in seconds.

€40-70 for a big name one depending on the grade (internally milled keys etc) in a bricks and mortar store, much less online.

No it isn't. It's bog standard.

Eventually got a refund from the guy.

Purchased an anti snap one from bigger retailer and paid 55e.

Thanks again for the clarification, feel that house is slighter more secure with this lock.
