Car recommendation please

Hi All,

Happy New Year!

Hope it's ok for me to post here. I have €12,000 to spend on a car, I drive about 18-20K KMs per year. I live in Waterford, do mostly town driving but travel regularly across the South East for work. I'll be getting rid of a starter car a 1L Hyundai and thinking about starting a family soon so would like something bigger that a baby seat and buggy could fit it.
Was thinking a Focus but not sure whether to go for 1L ecoboost or 1.6 diesel

There are also petrol variants.

Plenty of room for buggies and all the other gear you need to lug around. Relatively cheap to service and light on fuel.

We have one and it will even handle a fully upright buggy in the boot

Everything else being equal will you get higher expenses from work for a 1.6l and given your work mileage would this be a factor worth considering?

Thanks for reply, yes I think there's a difference in mileage between 1 and 1.6.

I'm going to test drive a Ford Focus Ecoboost tomorrow. It's a 1litre, my sister had a Focus, is currently driving an Octavia but misses the Focus.

The size of the focus is misleading. Unless you're looking at a saloon, the boot space in the hatchback is quite small.
