Must be somewhere fairly central to the tourist attractions, and of an excellent standard.

Also, any recommendations for a good Chinese restaurant in Beijing?

    Much love.

I all honesty, you'd probably have a tough time finding a restaurant in Beijing that wasn't Chinese. :).

I stayed in the new world Beijing last time I was there. It was perfect and close to most. The previous time was the park plaza wangfujing. It was grand, a bit cheaper, but the new world deffo was my preference

Stayed in the George Bernard Shaw suite of Raffles hotel in Beijing a few years ago. Fantastic, enormous room right in the heart of Beijing. Excellent service, too. Also, be prepared for Chinese women to approach you on the street constantly to "talk business". There were remarkably few westerners there so you'll be a target. It was easily the strangest city I've ever been in. I felt extremely safe there, as if everything was being watched. The smog was staggeringly awful. Definitely pay the €100 or whatever for a driver to bring you to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and Summer Palace etc for the day. Don't forget to go with the cable car company that has the return from the wall down the mountain via a fantastic slide - this one. Lastly, drop into KFC/Burger King/McDonalds in the middle of the night - I was there c. 3.30am - and be amazed at what you see!
