I was reading recently that the Daily Mail is considered to be one of the most profitable newspapers on the planet. Shifting on average 1.7 million copies per day

Where they're realling making their coin though is through the website. They get 10 million individual visits to their site per day. The Ad revenue they earn off this massive. They've even spread into the States.

Why don't the Guardian and Times who are in serious decline with sales of hard copies follow their leads with the websites. Put the best bits of the paper up on online for free and allow readers free reign to comment on every article published.

The Guardian doesn't have a paywall.

That's probably a lot to do with the Daily Mail's blatant right wing click bait crap tbh.

I would be willing to wager that certain people (higher ups) within both the guardian and times are questioning and asking how come we aren't making the same money as the daily mail.

All I know in life is that if you are clearly making good money there is someone else who wants what you got. So op I'm sure they are aware ;)

The Daily Mail gives people an alternative to what they see and hear on Politically Correct TV and Radio. The Guardian is just the same opinions you get on the BBC, probably a little bit more extreme to get the hits.

Is the main attraction of the mail not celebrity tits and right wing click bait articles? Its basically Nuts Magazine for the over 40's.

I read the guardian a few times a week and they don't seem to be struggling. 500,000 readers voluntarily contribute financially to them on a regular basis, and over a million worldwide have contributed in your past 3 years.

I wouldn't wipe my arse with the times, so have no idea how they're doing.
