Audi a6 2014 S Line 2.0d

Thinking of getting one of these as I know of one getting traded into a dealership next week.

2014, 141 reg, one owner. Black S Line model, automatic transmission, 58000kms or 36000 miles. Immaculate condition apparently. Sales guy gave me the heads up its coming in but I won't be getting any preferential price.

What do you think is a fair price for the above car assuming it's as described? Straight sale, nothing to trade in.
And any opinions on the c7 A6 at all? I have a 2014 f10 530d already this will be for the missus, she loves Audi.

Is it an Audi main dealer, there probably not going to retail that car, so off to the trade with it, don't know the book value, would it be 12-15k
Do you know any traders who deal with that garage?

It's pretty much the same as this one, similar mileage and spec.

26k seems very expensive to me for an A6 that is going to be 5 years old in a few days time. You can be sure the Audi dealer didn't give the previous owner anywhere near that money for it. I'd say they probably got offered around 20k if a little bit less trade-in value wise. You can buy them for reasonable money in the UK and plenty of Audi dealers are doing just that.

20k odd is what I'm looking at

20k doesn't sound miles off, this would set you back about the same in Armagh by the time you've haggled and vrt'd it. https://www.fleetwisevehiclesales.co.uk/used-audi-a6-london-london-1865477

Is she used to driving yours, do she know what the Audi is going to be like powerwise in comparison there different beasts. Does she need a big diesel saloon?

Not sure why you would post a UK reg with high mileage compared to the car the person posted about. A lot of the Audi's in UK are clocked so unless you have a huge check list done I always doubt them.....

At least off Audi dealer in Ireland you know what you are getting. No worries.

The Audi is a beautiful car and she will love it, question is does she need diesel or should you look at alternatives? If you dont want it....send it on and the misses might buy herself :-)

Buy from a credible source and do proper due diligence and it's the same as buying here. And like here the cheapest examples are usually the ones that have a colourful past.

Audi dealers here are buying some of their used stock from the UK too because they can buy good cars over there and make a nice profit on selling them here.

Not really the same as buyer here....

Plus the OP said they had a car, dont see the point of putting up a higher mileage Uk car as some sort of comparison?

If doing a UK comparison at least find equivalent in an Audi dealer.....

It was the cheapest auto with reasonable mileage up north, if he's getting a good Irish one for around the same it's a good deal.

141 is multitronic auto. Due to some horror stories (not sure whether true or not), I bought a 142 S-Tronic Ultra last year. Good car. Biggest issue for me is the offset pedals or pedal positions themselves - something feels off ergonomically. Mechanically good and seems much more pokey than the 177 manual that I had before.

She doesn't really need a big diesel saloon at all but the A6 is just her dream car and we are in a position to get one.
I've driven the type of Audi in question it's a nice drive and a very nice place to sit.
It's definitely a heart over head purchase but sometimes it's nice to do these things. I bought the 530d as business was going well for me and I rewarded myself, she finished a masters degree this year and is starting a new job in January so same story here. She also finally passed her driving test!

    -)

Do you have any actual proof that that statement is true or are you going on Chinese whispers and what simi dealers say?

Call complete bs on above Audi statement.

1 in 16 cars clocked in England versus 1 in 10 here. Where the figure gets messed up is cars imported into Ireland from England it's 1 in 5 but I assume that's the guys who buy their cheap clock it and sell on here.

    Unfortunately experience.

Not sure what a SIMI dealer has to do with it?

You call it BS and then agree that it is a huge problem

This is what I said, seeing as Bazz likes highlighting, lets highlight the full sentence.

A lot of the Audi's in UK are clocked so unless you have a huge check list done I always doubt them.....

What is the huge issue with that statement, Audi do have a problem with clocking in the UK.But as I said you need to do a huge checkline. Personally I still doubt them. So which bit is bullsh*t?

Unless you are buying from a main dealer in the UK they have a huge issue with clocked cars.

Then try buying a UK import in Ireland and another loop for more clocking is done.

Buy from an Audi dealer in Ireland you know what you are getting, if doing a comparison then you should be pricing via a UK Audi dealer. Something wrong with that advice?

You must be buying your cars somewhere very different to where I buy mine!

Last few Audi I bought from Audi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,411 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Last 5 cars I've owned including my current one were all from the UK. 3 bought from non main dealers and 2 from main dealers - none of them were clocked. Proper background checks done on them and verified service histories at time of purchase. Most of them were BMWs so maybe I was just lucky..

I'd be more worried about the amount of Irish cars that have less transparent ways of tracing their service history and mileage other than what's filled out on the NCT cert or taking the word of the seller getting Joe the mechanic in his shed across the road, looking after everything it needed.

Is 141 Multi Tronic? When did they start using STronic?

I think it was 142. Almost certain. You will know by the exhaust pipes too. The S-tronic (Ultra 190) has exhaust pipes at either side of the back bumper while the 177 Multitronic has twin pipes on the left. There was a further facelift in early 2015. The S-tronic Ultra also has an 'Ultra' badge on the bootlid. Worth making sure that you get the Ultra 190 over the 177. I've had both.

It's when the A6 got a facelift on the front wheel drive versions towards late 2014. Engines changed too, 177bhp was replaced by 150bhp and 190bhp versions.

Thanks. My Wife currently has July 2011 early Sline 177bhp manual and will change to auto next time around but I want to steer clear on multitronic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,478 ✭✭✭Azatadine

Yeah, I steered clear of multitronic myself. Not sure how many of the horror stories are hearsay rather than truth but I wasn't taking a chance on it.....

My Ultra is not the facelift. There was a period of time where the Ultra was available pre facelift. Only a few months. If you look at the 142 Ultra, the tail lights clusters are still the same as the pre FL. The grill too. Also, the FL has a chrome strip on the bootlid. That said, the differences are so subtle that they are almost not noticeable anyway.

Were i looking at a VAG diesel of this age - i would be looking to....

    1) see if its an EA 189 dieselgater.

    2) If yes to 1) - establish if its had the "fix". Its been a while since i followed the dieselgate "fix" outcomes closely but outcomes were quite hit and miss.

My suspicion is that A6 of 2014 vintage in 2.0 tdi form is EA 189 but im not certain of that.

However the 177s did seem to have the least negative outcomes from what i recall.

Edit - i see Bazz mentions engine changes in late 2014 - a 150 or 190 will almost certainly be the EA288 which id much prefer personally

From what year can the S-tronic gearbox and Matrix led headlights be speced in these A6s?
