Surely more immigration into Ireland is a disaster for the housing market?

    Hi there

I'm just trying to understand a few things about Ireland's current situation.

I know that there is a severe housing shortage in Dublin, and one of the main reasons why house prices are some of the highest in Europe. Dublin's house prices are comparable to London and Paris, despite its much smaller population. People with good salaries can't afford to buy.

Now that Ireland has signed the EU migration pact, its population will continue to rise. The population is set to reach 5 million by 2021

I'm not against immigration, but surely Ireland needs to put the breaks on new people entering the country until the infrastructure is there to support them. This is on top of dealing with the homeless situation.

A question for open borders supporters - what happens to Dublin when there's even more people, leading to rents and house prices increasing?

The future looks pretty grim for Dublin if this isn't sorted out.

When you see "I'm not against immigration, but surely" it means you are against it.
