Hi all, I'm just looking for some information regarding the permits arround green waste collection. I have a idle patch of land and I thought it might be a good idea to use it to make compost out of garden waste collected arround the county for maybe a set charge. Does anybody know the ins and outs of licencing or permits or even if I need them at all. Thanks in advance Ronan.

    You'll need planning permission too.

At the very least you'll have to be monitoring noise, dust and gaseous emissions from the operation when it's underway and produce monthly and annual reports.

An operation like this isn't for the hobbyist composter.
