    Ghosts of Christmas Past:

2.00pm on a very mild Christmas Day (no chance of freezing pipes, or anything like that). Phone rings : Hello, My neighbour went away last week for Christmas and I’m looking after her house. Before she went, she said that her heating is giving a bit of trouble and would I give you a call and ask you to have a look at it. Me: Well I’m about to sit down to my Christmas dinner, would tomorrow do ? Him: Oh yea, OK, that’s fine. I’ll be playing golf, but the wife will be here and she’ll give you the key.

9.00am, on a Stephen’s morning – at the door: Will you call up whenever you are back to work – We’re freezing up there.

1.15am, Arriving home from Midnight Mass - a neighbour at the door – The heating has broken down !

8.00pm Christmas Eve, a call to the door, - a distant neighbour that I had never been to before (with a child in his arms) - We have no heat !

    Retirement is Great :)
