I am out of contract with sky again and totally fed up with paying €90 a month. I have metflix and only really watch the main channels and RTÉ. What are the best options and cheaper options available. I have a mobdro box in the bedroom and hate it so never use it as it’s always looking for an update. TIA

This thread describes what we did, and we are very happy with it. It is a drop-in replacement for Sky, once you don’t have Sky Q. With Sky Q you will have to change the LNB on the dish, unless the one you have supports legacy operation.
    I use Chromecast for Netflix.

The solution as described doesn’t allow you to watch/record RTE1/2 simultaneously. I solved this by plugging in a dongle, at the back, as described in the thread. Expect to pay around €25 for this.

A few questions, does your tv have a Saorview tuner, then an aerial, roof or attic mounted is needed, you may get away with an indoor aerial, this will give you the Irish channels. Do you have Sky Q, if not what type of sky box do you have, if you have an sd box, just remove your sub card and you will get the main English channels. A HD box isn't as simple, you will need an ex UK sub card, 5 euro on Adverts, it puts BBC, ITV in order. If your TV doesn't have a Saorview tuner then a combo box is your next option.
