New Exchanged Opened Nearby

    Hi there,

My folks were with Eir a few years ago but left due to frustratingly bad speeds. Their exchange was Ballinalee which was over 6km from the house so we were quite literally end of the wire.

A few months ago a new exchange on the opposite side of our area open with Fibre enabled. This exchange is about 3km from us.

Are there any options to move exchange in order to explore returning to Eir (and possibly some nearby neighbours too) for my parents?

    Hi cherryghost,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to move to a different a exchange.  This is not something we would be able to facilitate.

I'm sorry it's not better news.

    Thanks

Thanks but its incredibly infuriating to see not 1 not 2 but 3 exchanges terminate just a few hundred meters from my folks home and considering FTTH degradation over distance isnt a problem.

Is there somewhere I can sign/submit an application on behalf of the local community there? Happy to sign up 50+ homes in the area that just metres outside the fibre coverage.

    Hi cherryghost,

All I can advise is if you enter your eircode into this link it will advise you of when FTTH will be available at your address.

    Grainne,

It will never be as it seems all surrounding exchanges have enabled FTTH but there's a specific area that doesnt have it (my parents included).

If you're not included in the initial rollout, not a new estate and are 100+ meters away from the cut off point there is pretty much zero chance of getting added
