Perfectly legitimate questions, but what if you are having a merry time listening to Christmas songs and don't want a serious edge to the conversations, you may also be seated at a table with many people, and you don't want to share this information with everybody at the table

What is the diplomatic way to deal with this scenario, to nip the conversation in the bud?

If someone asks me what I think of Donald trump, I am going to try to deflect the conversation, by saying, I think he has a very beautiful looking wife, which is true and hopefully that steers the conversation away from politics and onto beautiful looking women

I take it your views wouldn't be classed as mainstream then

Pretend it's 10pm on Xmas night. After a few beverages. Ask me a loaded question?. And I will try to deflect or de escalate

I do love a lighthearted chat about the above. I don't know why people have to get so worked up about them

By the way are you all set for the big Brex?

Print and frame a sign that says

    "No religion
    No politics
    No knickers"

    See what happens.

Climate change really shouldn't be an edgy conversation.

    Unless you're a twat.

I like to get my Father in law drunk on Sherry and encourage him to make racist comments.

If they're coming to my house I'm wearing my Donald Trump Christmas sweater and MAGA cap. They don't like it then they can turn right around and sod off [This is also highly useful in getting rid of spineless politicians]

Talk about the fact that it's all over for another year like everyone else.

Don't associate with folk who'll want to talk about trump at 10pm on Christmas night
