    Hi.
I just found out I am due a refund of vrt on a car I bought on drivers with disability scheme. Obviously this is very welcome news with less then a week away for the big day. I can't see any info on how long it will take and wondering if anyone else has any experience.

    TIA

There’s a lot of good info on citizens info.

When you say you’re due a refund of VRT, did you not buy the car on that basis?
Were you going on a price including VRT?

Does the car need modifications for driver or passenger?

yep check that site, but having done it i have prove car had been modified with a cert from a approved installer, you need medical cert from HSE, called primary medical cert, After you buy the car you send in the forms with above and receipt, takes 3 to 4 weeks to get the refund. this is for a used car.

if you by new from a dealer they my look after some of this, not sure.

Hi. Thanks so much for the replies. I bought the car with adaption. When I rang I was told as it was already adapted there was most likely no vrt owed so was bit of a surprise.
I have been approved for the scheme and have the cert. Of approval. Now just waiting for refund.
    Thanks again

How can you get the vrt back in a used car? I understood it was only for cars where VRT was not yet paid, ie a new car or an import not registered yet?

You can claim residual VRT but it might get complicated if no VRT was paid to start with.
