    Hi guys

I had a colleague that used this service recently

He moved job and claimed the last 4 years and got some money back

I had a look at the website and I have seed the form they ask people to fill..
i don't particularly like the bit at the end

"By Clicking Agree & Sign, I confirm that this signature will be the electronic representation of my signature for all purposes, when I or my agent use them on documents including legally binding contracts, just the same as a pen and paper signature."

anybody had experiences using their services?

Just do it yourself via your online account for free. Request P21's for the last 4 years or if you have health expenses to claim relief on fill in the online form 12s for the last few years. It's free and it will only take you a few minutes.

Not everyone is entitled to tax back unless they are claiming some additional reliefs or they were taxed incorrectly for some reason.

These companies aren't doing anything magical. They are doing exactly what you can do yourself for free.

Before taking the plunge and incurring any costs, it's worth asking yourself whether you have any reason for thinking that you may be entitled to a PAYE refund. For example,

Have you changed jobs? Have you had a period/periods of unemployment?
Have you worked abroad for a period? Did you marry?
Have you paid any significant medical expenses from your own pocket? etc.

When you click and agree, you are entering into a legal binding contract.

Another thing to be aware of with these tax rebate companies is that once you agree and sign with them they add their bank details to your Revenue record. Any refund you are due going forward then goes directly to them first for their cut. Even if you claim Health Expenses or similar online by yourself, the money still goes to their account first, even though they have done nothing for you.

With PAYE modernization, from next year all End of Year Reviews will be done automatically. As their bank details will still be on your record, they will still be getting any refund first, and taking a share.

Also, though you only have to click a link to sign with them..to remove them as your tax agent requires a phone call to the PAYE Helpline, or a written request through myEnquiries.

    ^^^^ THIS 1000% ^^^^

They prey on the fact that most people are not knowledgeable about how the tax system works and that most people find the idea of examining their own taxes daunting and assume it's beyond them. It's not.

As others have said, the moment you sign up with an agent, their bank details go on your record and they are linked to your record until you request that Revenue remove them, which must be requested in writing.

Unless you have very complicated affairs with multiple sources of income, avoid them like the plague.... and actually if you have very complicated affairs with multiple sources of income, hire a proper accountant.

Just do it yourself, I submitted a P21 for the last 3 years and received over 1400 between my wife and I. No commission paid to a company for doing what I did online in 2 minutes.
