SUV Tyres? Really?

    I'm looking for tyres for my 08 Koleos...(4WD X-TRail equivalent) and just lookin on oponeo I see a mix of tyres that are the right dimensions...
    And I'm focusing on ones that have an A rating for rain...

    But some of them say SUV specifically....

    Would the SUV ones have harder sidewalls or something ? To cope with the higher vehicle etc?

    Also, are Summer tyres what we need in Ireland really? Is there any need to go All Weather?

    Like most people I use it mainly on road. Rarely offroad, bar parkin in a field the odd time.. But I do have a bit of towing to do too..

    Load carrying capacity will be the difference.

    Do you ever end up parking in a field with a trailer? If so I would go for a tyre with at least some off-road capability, you may not need proper all terrain jobs, but at least something with M+S marking. My daughter rides and I have seen many people get stuck leaving events, on a wet field the grass does not have to be very long before cars on standard road tyres will simply not have the grip to get the trailer moving again even if they have 4WD.

    All seasons are perfect for Ireland. It never gets so hot or so cold/snowy that they're out of their comfort zone. I used to use all seasons on my cars back in Switzerland for years, where temperatures went from -5° to 30°C every year. If they're good enough for that, they're definitely good enough for irish conditions.
