Toll roads = modern highwaymen

Don't pay the toll, you're going to jail budy

Medieval times = pay the toll or die

The modern government supports these tolls by making it official. Highwaymen were executed in middle ages but look where we went from there. From execution to full open government support. Yes, toll the ****e out of them. Find me a toll road in the UK.

You might want to check when the first toll road was

How is this relevant? Is this thread about when highwaymen first appeared? Is it?

    Are you serious?

    From https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/legal/a-guide-to-uk-toll-roads-bridges/

"There are 23 tolls, or toll roads, in the UK; 18 of which are river crossings."

    M6 Toll Road

    Severn Bridge

    Forth Road Bridge

    Humber Bridge

(That's just what I've crossed in the past few months.)

I’m pretty sure nobody forced any motorist to use a toll road, in fact I’d say there is most certainly an alternative route....

Highwaymen didn't force them either, they didn't have to take the highway

 That makes no sense in reply to the fact that you can safely avoid tolls if you wish.

If it was the Kings Road then you had to pay a toll to use the same road that the King had ridden down!

I for one favour the premium highways. Tolls help keep the riff-raff off the road while I'm under way. Let the bangers stick to the back roads where I don't have to look at them.

The Severn Bridge Toll got removed this week. The bridge made its money back and was returned to Public domain or what ever. They reckon its removal could boost Wales economy by 100mill per year.

    A question, OP....

Well, two questions really. One for you. A second, slightly more philosophical one, for everybody else reading this.

    1. Have you ever had a non-stupid thought?

    2. Do ye think he'd know? :D

Anyone that doesn't come to your country because it costs a fiver probably won't be boosting your economy by much when it's free. :)

Eagerly awaiting your next thread complaining about taxes being spent on roads you don't use.
