    Hi all,

Been looking for a 100cm x 100cm paving flag or slab but the biggest I can find so far is 90cm x 60cm.

Does anyone know if a 100cm x 100cm paving flag or slab is available in Ireland and if yes, where?

This is what I am looking for, they are easily available in The Netherlands

    Thanks again

If you only want a few, say for making some steps, its as handy to make your own custom slabs. That's what I do.

As per the ones in your link, they need to be thicker than usual; 5cm.

Just put 4 pieces of 50mm timber in a square shape, pour in concrete, and tamp/screed it with a polyurethane float or a piece of timber.

I was thinking about this and probably my best option at the moment just a hassle. Rather buy them ready made to be honest.

    Thanks.

100 x 100cm are big flags, would probably weigh close to 120kg if they were 50mm thick! Heaviest I've handled were 60 x 60cm and they're no fun either.

I am pretty sure we cut down some 90x90cm flags for our kitchen that are actually outdoor flags but pretty smooth. I will double check that later. We got them from Ambrose in Kells (who is a cool bastard by the way)

    They are heavy alright. :D

But when they are laid as a path in a single line with 15cm gaps between them, it looks very good!

The largest paving slab in 1 size only is 900x600x25mm

What are you planning to do with them anyway?

A path in a single line with 15cm gaps between them in the back garden

Presume the 15cm will be lawn grass growing through, otherwise it could end up growing weeds.
Would 60 or 90cm not be wide enough for you?

The only reason I made the extra wide 100cm slabs for steps is that I have allowed for the vegetation/planting to encroach from each side by about 20 cm, so that still leaves me with 60cm clear space in the middle. It just makes it look more natural, and there is less need for regularly clipping the vegetation back.

Yeah I was mistaken sorry :o

We have some 600x600 left over and I thought they were actually 900x900. We also used 900x600, it's quite large. I would just go 600x600 and maybe reduce the gap in between 'em.
