Renault Clio internal leak/dampness

I have a 2005 Renault Clio and recently I've noticed that the floor behind the drivers seat is very wet. On bad days the water will actually seep up from the carpet and cover my hand if I press it there.

My brother also has an 05 Renault Clio (different model, mine has a sunroof but his doesn't) and his has the same issue except his is behind the passenger seat.

Is anyone familiar with this issue and what could be causing it? I've googled it but every result seems to make sense for one but not the other (eg some results blame the drains in the sunroof sealant being blocked, however since my brothers car doesn't have a sunroof this doesn't make sense for his car).

Thanks to anyone who can give me some suggestions as to the issue.

Something to note: the internal ceiling of the car and around the sunroof are never damp. Likewise the doors don't seem to have a sealant issue. The wetness seems to actually be leaking upwards from the bottom of the car under the carpet.

First thing I'm gonna say is check ur boot. Is it wet?
I've had my fair share of renaults and with the clios it's a good place to start.

Or maybe the rubber grommet under the carpet, you should be able to check it by looking under the car.

The drain hole at the n/s front windscreen scuttle gets blocked easily on these, over flowing into the car. The plastic cover is easily removed and you can clean it out. Easy fix so worth trying first.

This might actually be the issue, I'll have a look at it, thanks!

I put a wiper motor into my mother's neighbours 07 Clio. The old wiper motor failed from water getting into it because that drain was blocked. It wasn't cheap either.

There doesn't appear to be any issues with the wipers as of yet but I'll take that on board!
