Humax HDR-1000S - All recordings have disappeared.

    Hi All.

I'm hoping that someone more technical than myself will be able to shed some light on this problem for me, please :)

All the recordings on my Humax box have disappeared overnight (and I can no longer record from TV) this isn't a huge issue for me but my teenage daughter has recorded lots of history/current affairs programmes for a school project she is working on and she is fairly upset.

I'm trying to determine whether the box has developed a fault and needs to be replaced or if it could be down to a cable coming away from the dish?

I'm thinking it's more likely to be a faulty box as I've checked the signal info - the strength and quality of signal going to Tuner 1 & 2 is Good. I remember during a previous storm, one cable did come loose from the dish but we still had access to the recordings. However, we lost our ability to watch one channel and record another.

I know my satellite service guy is going to be very busy this week before the holidays so I want to avoid calling him out if it's likely that the Humax box needs replacing.

Any advice would be appreciated, T.I.A.

Thanks very much for this ^^^^^

That Humax thread makes for disheartening reading :( It's such a shame as it was a great device and it never gave any trouble until today.

Edit: I found my original receipt and it was purchased in May 2014 for 250 pounds sterling. I did pretty well to get 4 and a half years out of it, some customers had issues as early as 2015.

Are the recordings encrypted/protected on that device?
If not then it should be possible to copy off the recordings after taking the HDD out and attaching to another device.

    Update

I’ve lost all my old recordings but the Humax box is functioning properly again. I can record two different channels at once and watch a recording at the same time. The pause, rewind (live tv) and record buttons are working again too.

    Solution

Go to the settings button on your remote
    Select System Settings
    Select Storage
    Select HDD
    Select Disk Format

It was unfortunate to lose the old recordings but at least this fix means I can record programmes over Christmas and it buys me time so I can research a decent replacement device next year.

I'll be positive and hope that it lasts ..... but if I get through the Christmas holidays I'll be happy enough.

Do you know if this hard drive issue affects the HDR-1100S model too?

I don`t think it does , but I gave up on humax after 1000s .My Humax Foxsat on the other hand is still a beast 8 years later .
