    personally really like
    - the navigation gestures when enabled where you only have one button at the bottom
    - the side-by-side apps view in the recent/ open apps
    - even the ai suggestions in the app drawer
    - adaptive brightness gets very good after a day or two
    - dark theme (only works if you set a fairly dark wallpaper)
    - settings layout very clear and intuitive
    - adaptive battery - hard to tell
    - phones with notch can now have full screen youtube etc.

    best update in years imo

(this is on stock android on an android one phone)

yes you don't usually notice much of a difference between versions that much but this one I have.

now the volume controls defaults to media volume also - at last - that one was really annoying when it changed the ring volume instead when you're in an app.

I absolutely detest the new horizontal recents.

Have to agree with you there, it's so much more natural to scroll up / down with my thumb + you could see more apps. It's too much like an iPhone.

I like that you don't need to use auto rotate anymore.

That's the best thing they've done to Android in years.

I prefer them to the old vertical representation.

Stock Android has been doing that for years for me?

    new in pie

if you were in a music app it might have been the case but not otherwise generally - was a pain.

    Battery management is brilliant.
    Settings are easier to navigate
    Very happy overall with it.

The adaptive brightness is just as useless as the old version
Combining the volumes was a bad idea
I forget that gestures other than swipe up on the bar even exist
It likes to prevent notifications from some apps even when I specify it shouldn't, so I had to turn off adaptive battery (seemingly anything with adaptive in the name is useless in Pie)
and, added bonus, it's removed the clock from my ambient display with seemingly no way to get it back.

Wasn't worth losing the clock to upgrade.

found that the adaptive brightness wasn't any good for the first couple of days and since then has been very good

    (android one phone)

volume is much better now - not combined - defaults to media when makes much more sense. you can still mute calls / turn on vibration by pressing the bell icon that comes up when you turn volume up or down.

Installed it on my Zenfone 5 this morning, haven't really had time to see what's changed as yet. Did notice that horizontal recent apps thing though.
