Returning from injury

So I broke my left index finger at bjj at the end of September. Turns out it was a hairline fracture and/or a chip. Dr said to wait until I could make a fist before going back to bjj. He also said I can expect pain for 6 months.

Hand movement has effectively been back to normal now for well over a month. I haven't been back to bjj and tbh I want to skip it for a while and try boxing and kickboxing.

Anyone here tried boxing etc after a broken finger? Did you take any extra precautions? This would just be boxing for fitness etc, not competing.
