Looking for an automatic with a high seating position for Mrs Corner Back who is suffering from a back injury. Drove a 14 C4 Picasso and a 15 5008 but both have a terrible semi-automatic box which jumps with every gear change. Think this box changes from 16 on but not sure. Not too many other alternatives available in our price range but all suggestions are welcome.

Does she need the 7 seats?

RAV4 Hybrid/Lexus NX is very smooth.

I think citroen switched to torque convertor autos called eat6 around September 2015 in picasso/grand picasso.

I remember seeing 5008s with this gearbox in latest of the old models too.Should be in 16 models/

Only other mpvs with a torque convertor gearbox is opel zafira and Kia carens(I guess this is up to 2015 then they switched to dual clutch gearbox called DCT)

I have a 16 grand picasso 1.6 diesel eat6 and I am pretty happy with it comfort and back pain wise.

    How much you spending?

Budget could go up to 19k if the right car. Drove a 2016 3008 today with fully auto box and it was much smoother drive. Like the Citroën myself but Mrs Corner Back not as gone on them. Only reservation about the Peugeot is the dated interior and dashboard. It has same operating system as an 08 406 we used to own. I would expert a more modern interior but maybe there is less to go wrong.

Your budget would just stretch to a 2014 BMW x3 if that kind of car is to your tastes. Will be plenty of automatics available in them too, more so than Peugeot etc....

x3 would be a lot smaller than the vehicle mentioned. The boot on them is small. Yes they are nice but not really a MPV/SUV

    They are a crossover

Have narrowed down the choices to a 2016 3008 or 5008 or a Grand Scenic. On review I had to limit the finances to 17000 and there aren't too many alternatives around. My main concern is that all these cars are from the end of the model run and are a bit dated for 2016 cars. This is more evident with the Peugeots but maybe there is less to go wrong!!. I would be interested to hear any opinions on these cars or even alternatives if you can find them.

You should be able to get a picasso/grand picasso with eat6 gearbox if you can pay 19k as you mentioned before ? It probably won't be higher specs(exclusive, exclusive+) if you need to buy from irish dealers though.

Picasso/Grand Picasso is based on the peugeot/citroen's new platform called EMP2 while older 5008/3008 models are not. As a result it is much better car than the old models in meaning of weight, fuel consumption and handling.

Red one below is base spec but low mileage from main dealer so should be safe enough.

Blue one is 2.0 lt diesel version with mid spec. Don't be afraid of size of the engine as it is pretty economical and low emission setup.

    Red GP

    Blue GP

C4 and 5008 from 2016 all have hydraulic boxes. Very smooth

Just FYI the blue one is from Leaseplan so company vehicle. Advantage with company vehicles is the services will be done like clock work and no chance of any clocking etc
