Hi,Some im looking to spread a lorry load 20 tonne of hardcore for a 20 foot container and wondered would 804 be a bit small ,would 3" down be more suitable considering i will have to wheel barrow some of the load and spread some by rake,is 3" down much harder to work with than 804 which i assume is 1.5" down. Also is there enough fines in 3" down to compact for the container.cheers.Ive been quoted 190 for 804 and 180 for 3" down delivered.Prices seem to have gone up ,ha

If you are raking and wheelbarrowing the 3" down would be a nightmare . I would go with the 804 , it will rake up nicer

Once your natural base is good the 804 will go like concrete after a while and be a better job in the long run.

Definitely not 3’ down for shovel work.

You won’t be sure how much stone you need until you striontue site and see how much ground has to be made back up.

    804 will be perfect.

Remember, the digger driver is (or should be) an expert at this stuff, get and listen to his advice.

A good base of 804 and give it a run of a whacker plate if you can hire one locally for a couple of hours.
