I have the above, paired to a 500 GB Seagate HD, connected to a USB port which also powers it. It has been running/recording fine for the past 3.5 years or so but I returned from holiday recently it would not record and didn't seem to recognize the HD.
After playing around with it for a while I discovered that it has two USB ports, one, on the left looking from the rear has "Dolby Digital Plus" written above it, the HD was plugged into this port, the other is directly underneath a ethernet port (on the right, rear). I plugged the HD into this and the Humax asked me if I wanted to format the (same) HD which I did and everything is working fine again, recordings/pause etc.
Query is, can the HD utilize either of these USB ports?. the reason I ask is that my feisty grandchildren were here for a few days while I was away and its just possible but unlikely that one of them switched ports with the cable connection and that's why it didn't work when I returned. Someone with this model + HD might have a look and tell me which USB port it is connected to. Thanks.

Here is the reply that I got from Humax customer support:

    "Hi John
    Thank you for contacting Humax.
In regards to your question any of the ports could be used for that operation as none are designated for any purpose."

However I do notice one "facility" I had when using the other port.....even though a single tuner box, I could watch other channels on the same TP while recording which was handy now and then but I can live without it.
