Hi, this is about regular post so sorry if it's in the wrong place.

I've got a few letters that were sent to the wrong address, what am I supposed to do with them?

    - fyi, I don't mean they're for a previous resident at my address.

I would write ‘not at this address’ on the envelope and stick them back in the post box.

If I knew who the recipient was, I would pass them on and leave them sort it out with the postman or post office.

This doesn't apply. The person probably is at the address on the envelope.

Put it back in the post box but stick a note on saying delivered to the wrong address

Does an post have an official policy though? They must have this problem now and then.

I'd get this a good bit, I live at Mountain View but there's also another estate called Mountain side and one of the roads is Mountainside View. I'd say at least once a month I get post for my number but Mountainside View. It wouldn't be an area I'm ever in, so I just chuck them back in the post box. First couple of times it happened I went in to my local post office with them but the lady there just told me to put them in the box.
