Mature guitarist/composer looking to form band

Hi. I've been writing and recording my own (orchestral/prog/atmospheric/jazz-ish) material for years, also used to play in various bands including a Steely Dan tribute and other jazz groups. For a side project I'm looking to get together with like-minded musicians to co-write new music and form a band with a view to playing some gigs and recording etc., part-time but serious enough. I play mostly guitar but can also play bass and some keyboards. I'm thinking a mix of post-rock, progressive rock, atmospheric sort of styles, something along the lines of Tortoise, Hammock, Sigur Ros etc. but a bit more rocky or progressive. Open to other ideas in a similar vein as well. Would probably suit musicians who are middle-aged and up as I'm certainly in that bracket though age need not be a deciding factor if it was the right person or people. Still, gotta be realistic! I also work as well as compose so my time can be quite limited, thus the 'part-time' availability.

Just to give an idea of where I'm coming from my influences would include 70's progressive rock and jazz-rock as well as some more popular but original artists through the years, electronic and ambient and various classical composers, among many others!

Let me know if this sounds of interest to anyone.

I'm based in south county Dublin by the way.

What Steely Dan tribute band ? I used to know a guy years ago who played keyboards in one, early 90's.

Sorry for not replying sooner, just seeing this now. That was probably The Naked Lunch was it? We were The Fez and were active in the early 00's. I was the guitarist.

Yes, it was the Naked Lunch. I was responsible for introducing him to the band, I gave him a loan of 'Can't buy a thrill'. He was hooked after that.

No surprise there. Such great music and such a pleasure to play it for a few years. Ah, nostalgia..
