Is it ever possible to be nice AND reach the top in business?

    My experience of successful business people so far in my life has been very grim and has left me very cynical but I accept that its probably just a fact of life and will always be that way. I know of a top business man who could charm the birds from the trees when getting new clients. Ask any of his clients and they love him, oh hes great hes like a friendly uncle. And yet his staff are shaking when he walks into the room, hes a thundering bully behind closed doors. Staff turnover is huge and its just a cycle of hire, bully and fire over and over.

    Same with top managers, successful CEOs etc, so many of them play the game with photo ops and soundboards on radio when behind it all they are absolutely ruthless and have no pity for how they destroy their staff. I know a percentage of psychopaths are suited to top business jobs. It seems anyone with any decency or manners whatsoever in them are just not suited to business. Caveat- this is only my experience.

    Do you know any people who are both nice and successful?
