My car has been off road for 2 months. In August, my 2010 VW Sharan received a software update, and good will warranty was provided. A sensor error post the update, required a new part to be installed. ETA was 29th October. A month to wait.

On the week of the 29th, VW informed my garage that the part was delayed another month. 30th of November. They couldn't explain why.

As of earlier this week, I've been told by VW customer services that it's delayed again till 14th of December. I'm out of pocket for car rental hire, to which VW customer services say it's not their policy to cover. I'm hitting a brick wall with VW customer services.

Is there anything else I can do? VW appear dysfunctional at this stage.

    Thanks,
    LK.

    Edit -
I didn't read the op right.
I thought it was a relatively new car.
Given it's a 2010, and would only have the warranty relating to the emissions update and considering you seem to be using an independent garage, I don't know what you can do really.
Could your garage not source a part cheaply somewhere else?

No, while I was waiting the car went on limp mode for a limited distance. I had to leave it at the garage before it ran to a halt, a week before the first ETA of the part.

    Thanks,
    LK.

It's a VW garage. Had I known this was what was going to happen, I probably would just have got the part for them off ebay. :) It seams so close now though.

It's not really in their control.

I had to wait for a part from Japan once for over a month, could still drive car though.
