DAS going to sleep

    Hi,

    I have 4 x 2TB drives in a hornettek HT-3402JFR 4 bay raid.

Connected by USB 3 to my desktop running Windows 10 Enterprise
    Version 1803
    OS Build 17134.407

I have disabled all USB power management via Device Manager.
I have set put HDD's to sleep to 0 minutes. (Also increasing it to 1 and then down again sets it to "Never") but saving it and re-opening it, sets it to 0 again.

The external caddy is powered on it's own.

The 4 drives are setup in a Simple Storage Space in Win 10.

I can't find anyway to stop the drives going to sleep.

Any help would be great :)

    Hi,

I have disabled all USB power management via Device Manager.

Have you changed any of the power plan settings for "USB Selective Suspend"?

it's disabled under the current high performance power plan

Title is misleading, should be DAS really

The manufacturers own site doesn't directly list that model but google suggest its the RAID version not the JBOD. That means you're looking in the wrong place. The enclosure controls the drives, not the the OS. The OS sees a virtual disk presentation.

Find a manual for it and see how its configured, or you may know from when you setup the RAID.

Disks have their own internal idle timer.. it's a power management thing...

It's unlikely to be related to any OS settings

    title changed :)

I'll check out specs of it online and see what I can find out.

seems like there is a built in power feature :(

Why do you want them always on anyway? It's clear that they are not in use 100% of the time or they wouldn't power down in the first place

There are plenty of cases where you want the disks to stay spun up. Its a normal thing.
