Entitled to free broadband upgrade?

My mother is law is looking to have her broadband upgraded. I've ran speed tests and the results are shocking. On average we're getting 5mb download speeds and 0.4mb upload speeds.

The router in the house is about 10 years old at this point and she isn't getting speeds anywhere in line with today's standards.

Would she be entitled to a free upgrade to a more modern router and better speeds?

Very unlikely the router is the issue, the speed is to do with the line quality, distance from the exchange etc.
Many people are on similar speeds and worse

Only thing is if she is living in a more urban area there maybe fibre to the cab available which might greatly increase her speed. But if she is out in the sticks then she is probably on the best speed available.

If she is in countryside then this is Standard Eir broadband...couldn’t even call it broadband...quicker dial up might be more appropriate

    Hi steve_

If your mother-in-law is looking to upgrade she can call our sales team on 1800 503 303, they will be able to do a line test and will tell you which broadband/fibre option would be best suited to her area. I want to advise you that the named account holder would have to ring or be present while you ring to inquire about an upgrade.
