Dundalk Ice Dome

Hi,

Does anyone have any info at all on the Dundalk Ice Dome?
Is it reopening, has the lease been taken over fully?

Ive read that an english comp were looking to open it but finding it hard to get the deal over the line?

Fingers and everything else crossed that this happens.

The Irish Ice Hockey Association (IIHA) have announced that they have raised the funds to reopen Dundalk ice rink. The IIHA says they are negotiating how they could lease the facility from the current owners, DkIT.

It is hoped that teams will be able to use the facilities, which closed back in 2010, by September.

I seen this the other day. Hopefully it opens however with the team of people behind it I won't hold my breath.

Dundalk council should have bought this years ago and create a brilliant indoor venue for the town, like the INEC in Killarney. The potential is huge.

In the article DKIT were offered €60k a year for 10 years for it, unless they have other plans for it they should have taken up the offer.

Letting it sit idle and go to rack is ruin is a waste.
