Considering swtiching to eir, tv and BB bundle.

If i were to go a head and do that, do eir take care of talking to my current providers. Or would I need to go ahead an cancel with them myself.

I second that. Don't do it. Read some of the threads on here. As a clincher try ringing 1901 Éirs customer (Don't)care and try cancellations. :D

I will also vote that you do not enter into any sort of communication whatsoever with Eir, if you value your mental health. I was a customer of the company and their ancestors for over 30 years and from around August 2017 to May 2018 I had nothing but bad service and non existent customer service so I dropped them like a hot potato.

If you do join Eir, have a psychologist on standby for the next few months - if not years

It's both sad and funny that this exact phrase comes up every time someone makes a post about switching to Eir.

If you value your sanity stay well clear.

Assuming you are out of contract then your services will automatically transfer over and it "should" close the other account (just to be sure their systems have updated the information with their billing) - but always wise to double check it. They cannot cancel things like a TV service you may have.

Why exactly do you want to switch to eir?

Most people are switching for the free eir/bt sports. Be aware that eir's contract for bt sports ends next August and Sky have won the rights from then on. We don't know if Sky will sell on the rights or not.

The eir vision tv package seems to have lost the bbcs in hd. Someone reported that lately so be careful to do your research.

Eir won't take care of anything except overcharge you. My contract is up and I'm trying to get through to them. Utterly useless!

Had some problems with Vodafone before but nothing as bad as this. Vodafone will actually reply and was much easier to give notice and cancel with them. Things are so bad with Eir looks like I'll have to cancel my direct debit at this stage.

    Hi loudymacloud,

If you wish to switch over your phone or broadband we are able to do so by using your UAN number (via Sky or Vodafone).
If you are a Sky tv customer you should give notice to Sky of your intention to cancel.
Virgin customers are required to cancel the service with Virgin Media themselves.
For more information on switching click here.

My advice, do not switch to Eir.

My Christmas present was a bill for 138 Euro. A charge for equipment allegedly not received by Eir after I closed my account. I did of course send everything in a box well marked on every surface with my account number and a note inside.
The free post label supplied by Eir was used and a certificate of posting obtained from An Post, 1/11/18. All as per their instructions in plenty of time.
No contact until regarding the equipment until the bill. They have provided no evidence of non receipt just their say so!
The bill arrived by email 21nd Dec for payment 3rd Jan by direct debit. Not much I can do about it over the holidays.
Call me a cynic if you like but my experiences with Eir predispose me to consider this bill as punitive action for closing my account.

Eir are a law unto themselves and in their court you loose. Best to not sign up in the first place.

Ya..definitely stay well clear of EIR..
They ring people up and offer them the sun moon &stars..but couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery..
My friend at work has eirwave internet the same as myself speed max 10mbps..but there actually decent people to deal with if you have any problems and they resolve quickly..however he got a call 2 weeks back from eir. And sure twas like he had won the lotto..high speed fiber broadband to his house..free handsets..unlimited everything etc etc ..
And they were installing the following Tuesday...so much was his excitement that he took that Tuesday off work... then they never showed up to install..a few days later and loads frustration..he finally got reply from eir..
Oh a. Sorry but theres no fibre or even basic service available to you at your home location.. please accept our apologies and yes we at eir already know that were a shower of useless pri..s..
Don't even dream of joining eir

Don't sign up. I've had nothing but problems. 1 day was on hold 6 hours and only stayed on out of sheer persistance of I'm not letting them away.

Massive case of overpromise and under deliver. Customer support services has been slashed recently with new owners.

Cancel the Direct Debit before the 3rd

Well that view seems pretty unanimous!

FWIW I'd be of the same view in that Eir are only good at taking a dump on their customers!

    Agreed.....run for the hills.

    Customer service is a shambles
